These may be great for dogs, but the one I bought for our 4 year old cat lasted less than 10 seconds. I kid you not. One swift kick with the a hind claw and "pop"!

Thank you for writing this review from a pet owners perspective. I was considering stocking these, however, while I think they are an excellent idea it does concern me that some pets would still be able to get to their wounds. From this review and others it seems its all about where the wound is if these work or not.
I also have two dogs who really do not like the 'lampshade' collars - so while I wouldn't stock these I would buy one myself depending whereabouts the wound was.

Well the collar wouldn't stop access to the rear feet (as we discovered just recently when Biggles cut his paw) so I suspect that you're boy might still be able to reach his tail, unless you got a really big collar (several sizes above his) and inflated it really well.

Hello - I found this article very interesting as we are at our wits end with our Bichon Frise and the dreaded "lampshade" given to us by our vet. Unfortunately he has become petrified of it (the dog, not the vet!) and gets in such a state when we put it on him I've given up and made my own (rather peculiar version out of various bits of cardboard and curtaining). The comfy collar sounds just what we might be looking for but I would be grateful if you could let us know, in your opinion, if it would be possible for a dog to reach his tail - he is a Bichon Frise and they do have rather flexible necks!
