Biggles’ First Time in the Advanced Class

It was Biggles’ turn at obedience this week and his very first night in the advanced class. He did very well!

He still gets a little bit excited so we need to work hard at keeping him calm. But provided we do that he doesn’t take his little eyes off us! He’s so eager to please. His heel work was excellent – perhaps better than his big sister! His sit / down wait was good, but his attention wandered after a while. He didn’t get the idea of distance control at all – everytime I told him to do something he’d run over to me so he could do it beside me!

Unfortunately we couldn’t take many photos as one of the dogs didn’t like the flash.

Pampering the Athletes

Beanie and Biggles were clearly inspired by their first flyball competition at the weekend – they were flying in last nights training session!

They’re both taking part in the flyball demo at “Paws in the Park” at Rouken Glen Park on Saturday 22nd August (hosted by Glasgow Dog Training Club). And they might be going down to Yorkshire at the end of the month to team up with a couple of dogs from another team to do their first full ‘starters’ competition!

As they worked so hard last night we decided to forego today’s evening walk in favour of a leisurely swimming session at Allers Farm Kennels. It was a good call. It gave them a chance to really chill out and rest their joints whilst stretching out and gently working their muscles in the pool.

And finally here’s the now obligatory “Biggles looks crazy when he’s shaking the water off” shot:

Glasgow Dog Training Club

I thought I’d post up this little video produced by Beanie and Biggles obedience training club (Glasgow Dog Training Club). If you look carefully you’ll see that Beanie and Biggles feature quite a few times!

Dog owners that are local to Glasgow will also be interested in an event that the Glasgow Dog Training Club will be hosting in Rouken Glen Park on Saturday 22nd August:

Beanie and Biggles’ flyball club will be doing a demo and a ‘have-a-go’ (highly recommended!). Also, their lure-coursing club will be there letting everyone have a try. I’ll be working at the event, but I’m sure Beanie and Biggles will be having lots of goes with their dad. He’s under strict instructions to take them along to the aromatherapy and tellington touch stalls for a bit of pampering! There will be lots of dog activities to watch and to try. Also stuff for the kids (pony rides, face painting etc) and craft stalls selling lots of lovely hand-crafted items.
