Are Beagles Getting Bigger Nowadays?

Another lovely day yesterday so we took Beanie and Biggles down to Ayrshire for a nice walk along the Ayr Gorge, then lunch in the dog friendly Failford Inn afterwards. They had a lovely time, and met a new pal…

Meet Puffin:

Hopefully Puffin will be coming to racing to run the guantlet race with the Beagles. It’s such a shame that Beanie and Biggles will miss it – they’ll be doing their special training and won’t be taking part in normal races for a while.

Fred

Just a few shots I managed to get on Tuesday of Beanie & Biggles having fun with a youngster called Fred.

Fred is only 6 month sold or so, so it’s no surprise that he got on particularly well with Biggles, who’s only just gone past the 9 month mark. Beanie – now at over 19 months old – doesn’t have much interest in young puppies, though she absolutely loves Biggles.

Shortly after these shots were taken the sky clouded over and we were hit first by hailstones and then by a monsoon. We were all absolutely drenched by the time we got back to the car, and of course as we drove home it was all blue skies and sun again. Blummin’ typical!

Will Beanie & Biggles Be The First Beagles on Mars?

There’s a new mission to Mars due for launch towards the end of 2011, and Beanie & Biggles have got their names on the passenger list. They’ve been so mischievous lately we figured that sending them to another planet was the only way to get some peace!

Seriously though, the roving laboratory (called “Curiosity”) that’s at the heart of the new mission will be carrying a chip with the name of anybody and everybody who expresses an interest by completing the following online form:

I read about it in The Register and signed up Beanie and Biggles last night. It’s free, takes only seconds, and I really like the idea of an intrepid robot going walkies on Mars with names of our two pups tucked away in its belly.

Here are their participation certificates:
